British Values

At Uffington Church of England Primary School, our vision of creating a nurturing and inclusive learning environment where ‘Everyone Matters’ aligns seamlessly with the promotion of British values. We are committed to fostering an educational culture that embodies the principles of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance for those with different faiths and beliefs.

Democracy
We encourage our pupils to engage in democratic processes by providing them with opportunities to voice their opinions and participate in decision-making. Through initiatives such as Pupil Parliament, pupils learn the importance of collaboration and respect for diverse viewpoints, reflecting our core value of respect.

The Rule of Law
We instil a strong understanding of the rule of law by teaching our pupils the significance of laws in maintaining a safe and orderly society. Our behaviour policy is rooted in fairness and consistency, ensuring that pupils recognise the importance of rules in both school and wider society, thereby fostering a sense of responsibility.

Individual Liberty
At Uffington, we celebrate individuality and encourage pupils to make informed choices within a safe and supportive environment. We promote self-confidence and self-esteem, allowing pupils to express their thoughts and beliefs freely, in line with our value of love, which underpins our commitment to caring for one another.

Mutual Respect and Tolerance
Our school community is built on the foundation of mutual respect and tolerance. We celebrate diversity and promote an understanding of different cultures, beliefs, and backgrounds. By fostering an environment where every pupil feels valued and included, we embody the essence of our vision: that Everyone Matters.

In alignment with the Parable of the Lost Sheep, we are dedicated to ensuring that every pupil flourishes, recognising their unique talents and abilities. Our commitment to British values not only enhances the personal development of our pupils but also prepares them to contribute positively to British society and the world around them.

By integrating British values into our ethos, we ensure that our pupils grow into responsible citizens who respect others and embrace the rich diversity of our community.
