Attendance
Attendance and Punctuality at Uffington C of E Primary School
At Uffington Church of England Primary School, we believe that “Everyone Matters”. Our vision is rooted in the values of love, respect, and resilience, and we are committed to creating a nurturing and inclusive environment where every pupil can thrive. A key aspect of this commitment is ensuring that all pupils attend school regularly and arrive on time.
Importance of Attendance
Regular attendance is vital for the academic success and personal development of our pupils. It fosters a sense of belonging and community, allowing pupils to engage fully in their learning experiences. Good attendance is not just a school policy; it is an integral part of our ethos that supports the holistic development of each individual.
Our Attendance Policy
In line with the Department for Education's guidance on attendance, we have established a clear and comprehensive attendance policy that outlines our expectations for pupils and parents. This policy includes:
-
Attendance Expectations: We expect all pupils to attend school every day, arriving on time. The school day starts promptly at 8:45 AM, and pupils should be in their classrooms ready to learn by this time.
-
Communication: Parents are required to inform the school of any absences as soon as possible. If a pupil is absent without explanation, we will contact parents on the first day of absence to ensure their safety and wellbeing.
-
Managing Lateness: Pupils arriving after the register has closed will be marked as late. We encourage parents to ensure their children arrive on time to avoid disruption to their learning.
Supporting Our Pupils
We understand that some pupils may face challenges that affect their attendance. Our staff are here to support families in overcoming these barriers. We will work collaboratively with parents and external agencies to provide the necessary support, ensuring that no pupil is left behind.
A Culture of High Attendance
At Uffington C of E Primary School, we strive to instil a culture of high attendance. We believe that good attendance is a learned behaviour, and we aim to develop positive habits from the outset. Our approach integrates attendance with our broader school improvement efforts, including behaviour management, support for special educational needs, and the wellbeing of all pupils.
Together, we can ensure that every pupil at Uffington C of E Primary School benefits from a full-time education, enabling them to become the best version of themselves. We encourage all parents to engage with our attendance policy and support their children in achieving excellent attendance and punctuality.
For more information about our attendance policy or if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our attendance officer or the school office.
Let’s work together to make every school day count!
